Teej festival is celebrated by Nepali Hindu women throughout the country on 4th of September Sunday.
Teej is a religious, social and cultural festival in Nepal in which the married women visit their parent’s home and celebrate Teej with their mother, sisters and friends. Married women take a full day fast and worship Lord Shiva for their husband’s wellness. Unmarried women and girls also take fast on Teej and pray to get a nice husband. Traditional dances and songs form an important feature of Teej celebrations. Red color is considered auspicious for women observing Teej fast and so most of them dress up in red or bridal clothes. Our female volunteers also took part in the festival and enjoyed their time in Nepal.
